BRØD DANISH CAFE
After having the chance to study abroad in Copenhagen, I wanted to bring a taste of the unique culture and cuisine of Denmark to Philadelphia. I created BRØD, a cafe open morning and night selling pastries, sandwiches, coffee and beer. The name means bread, and the logo reinforces the meaning through a hint of wheat.
To combat the cold, dark winters in Denmark, Danes prioritize hygge, which translates as a feeling of coziness created through warm conversation, flickering candlelight, good food and good company. This branding strives to convey this feeling through the contrast between cool blue exteriors and warm red accents.
By incorporating traditional proverbs related to food, the brand brings a dose of Danish language and culture. Watercolor illustrations highlight typical danish foods and warm up a clean, scandinavian style. BRØD is the perfect cozy cafe to experience a bit of Danish culture.
